Do you check your surroundings before using a pressure washer?

Electric and Gas Pressure Washers

Whenever you are using a power washer you should always be aware of your surroundings. This plays into pressure washer safety. For example, some pressure washers are powered by electricity. You should never use an electric powered washer outside in the rain. And when you are using it, make sure to avoid spraying electrical appliances and outlets so that you do not cause short circuits or electrical fires.

If your washer is gas powered, DO NOT smoke while operating it. Avoid any open flames, matches, or heat sources that might ignite gasoline. Cleaning your car will be the last thing on your mind if everything around you suddenly goes up in flames. Even the best pressure washer can be damaged by fire.

You also need to be careful when filling the machine with gasoline. The engine must be turned off whenever you are adding fuel to the tank. Make sure you do not overfill the machine either. This can lead to spills and other fire hazards. Once you are done refueling, secure the gas cap tightly and make sure there is no gas leaking out.
