Trash Pump Safety

Trash pumps are generally run with gasoline or another type of fuel such as diesel. Any time you operate something of this nature, you have to make absolutely sure you are aware of your surroundings and anything your pump may come into contact with. The most important thing to remember is to never pump any liquids that might be flammable into your water pump. If you were to pump a flammable substance it could ignite, causing the gasoline or other source fueling your pump to do the same. This could cause damage to the machine and, more importantly, lead to serious injuries for you and anyone in the area. It could also ignite structures such as nearby houses or garages. Fire safety is extremely important when dealing with machines with gasoline or another type of fuel. So before you use your pump, double check to be safe. Make sure that you know exactly what you are pumping and that there is nothing flammable coming into your machine.
